GIVING FROM THE UK
Donations of money or items can be made through our UK affiliate organisation, Africa's Gift. Founded and managed by Ken Dunn, a school teacher from South Yorkshire, Africa's Gift sends students from Royston High in Barnsley and The City School in Sheffield on a biennial visit to Malealea to deliver aid and implement eco-development projects in the Valley. Kenn first visited Malealea in 2000 on an eco-tourism trip that included a stay at The Malealea Lodge [include link to Lodge page on MDT site].
He was taken with the natural beauty of the country, the generous hospitality of the people, and the opportunity to help the remote community preserve its ecology. Ken and his student volunteers have returned four times in the years that passed, leaving an indelible mark on the local community. Africa's Gift has installed wind and solar energy systems that deliver electric power to several schools; built and refurbished school buildings; repaired dams and restored lands damaged by erosion; planted trees to prevent further erosion; repaired damaged roads, and; delivered school supplies, medical care and equipment.
Please visit Africa's Gift to make donations. Africa's Gift is run entirely by unpaid staff and therefore 100% of the donations given will go to the MDT for the work in the Valley. The charity organisation will be launching a membership program shortly at two subscription levels. A Basic Membership would involve a donation of £1 per month and a Scholarship Membership would involve £10 donation per month (providing one child with the £113 it costs per year to attend school).
We are grateful for your support!
